Not sure if the previous owner swapped out the possible serial numbered slide with a different non serial numbered one but the gun itself was in new condition and unfired. 7, to meet with SIG Sauer executive staff, engineers and project managers to discuss its P320 - all of whom had tirelessly worked over the weekend to pinpoint and finalize upgrades to make the P320 even safer. I would go for the later model as SIG would have had more time to get its act together. However, I know of no reason why an early Revolution Carry would be better than a later model. I think that the Revolutions were made after the Rails and I think so were the Revolution Carrys, so your low serial number GSC may have missed the problems of the first generation Rails. (Hawkmoon was most eloquent in his description of the early guns.)īut you are looking at buying a Revolution Carry model with a differently lettered serial number of "GSC". This gun jammed or broke down in various, innovative ways. I bought one of these early pistols, new, in stainless steel, and it had a serial number of GS020xx. They came in Nitron (black) or Stainless Steel finish and were called Granite State Rails. The early Sig GSRs were Government type models weighing 39 ounces. I won't press my luck with that high s/n GSR. I guess that I am lucky that my GSC004XX serial numbered GSR always goes bang when I squeeze the trigger. You have a better chance of getting a good one if you buy a later production pistol.Thank you very much for your prompt and thorough response Hawkmoon. If you have one that works, consider yourself lucky but IMHO don't tempt fate by buying another. I wouldn't even consider a low number SIG 1911. Meanwhile, Caspian has been selling off the old SIG slides and frames as kits, and I have yet to hear of anyone buying one of those kits who has had any problems with the parts. Following that, they continued to have quality control issues. They cancelled Caspian's contract, suspended production for several months, then resumed using a different source (in house?). SIG was sourcing their slides and frames from Caspian and has publicly blamed all the problems on "out of spec" slides and frames from Caspian. There is almost universal agreement that the early SIG 1911s were mostly junk. Thanks in advance for responding to my question!! Let me know your opinions as I will be buying it before the end of the year. So much so that it is my regular handgun for cold weather CC. Further, after breaking it in with 200 rounds of 230 grain hardball ammo, and after changing to Wilson Combat magazines, it has been nothing but reliable feeding and ejecting all types and brands of quality ammunition. It conceals well and has excellent fit and finish. I have nothing but good things to say say about t. Let me say that I already own a SIG GSR Revolution Carry in SS, with a low serial #- GSC004XX. Others say just as adamantly that the reliability/quality issues with SIG 1911s is just the opposite. Some say that the low serial # GSRs have quality and reliability issues. I have read varying accounts about the quality and reliability of SIG 1911's. I have a choice between one with a low serial, GSC006XX, or one with a higher serial #, GSC11XXX. I have an opportunity to acquire a SIG GSR Revolution Carry in SS.
